     The purpose of the Alliance Running Team is to help promote Alliance Running's goals and events.  These individuals will have input and contribute to this web site's features.  This web page is devoted to the Alliance Team.  This page contains a brief profile on each member and will be updated as the AR Team competes in various events.  Click here for the History of Alliance Running

 

Jeff Rawlins Age:  52 Tipp City, OH

Jeff is one of the area’s all-time best road racers (14:13 5K and 29:20 10K).  He began running in high school after the Tipp City football coach told him he was too small for his team.  Rawlins still holds the school record for the 2-Mile Run (9:24.6) and placed 4th at the state cross country meet his senior year.  He continued his running career for Malone College where he was a three time All-American.  He currently holds the Malone College record in the Marathon (2:17:39).  Jeff has been a force in road racing since graduating from Malone 1981.  Rawlins has put his 30 plus years of running experience to work.  He has helped dozens of runners with their training and motivation.  Jeff was the 2009 USATF 10K champion for grand masters.

Favorite Distance:  Marathon in younger years and 5K as a master.

Favorite Workout:  Run 8x 600’s with a 600 meter jog between each one.  It builds strength and speed.

 

Josh Maple Age:  33 Fort Wayne, IN

Josh hails from Indianapolis, IN and Southport High School.  Maple competed in wrestling and soccer in high school.  It wasn’t until his final two years at Adrian College in Michigan when Josh began running.  The Cross Country team was small and needed numbers, so he gave it a try.  Since college, Josh has continually improved his times on the road with a 33:39 10K and 1:14:30 1/2 marathon.  He is currently the program director at the Miami County YMCA and team captain for the Y’s ORRRC team.  He has also been involved in implementing the Y’s youth running programs.

Favorite Workout.  6-8 x 1000 meter repeats on the track with a 3-minute recovery.

 

Chris DesRoches Age:  50 Dayton, OH

Chris’s trek to competitive racing is one of the most interesting you’ll come across.  Chris attended high school in New Hampshire and joined the army within a year of graduating.  He began running in the army (because you had to!).  After finishing his military commitment, DesRoches ran on his own but never raced.  It wasn’t until the age of 39 when his son, Brent, made the varsity Cross Country team at Northmont High School did Chris begin racing.  As he began increasing his mileage his times dropped rapidly.  He quickly developed into one of the area’s best runners (15:31 5K and 32:50 10K) in his forties

Favorite Workout:  Not his favorite but it works the best for him! A hilly 7-mile tempo run near Aullwood.

 

Julie Blair Age:  33 Troy, OH

Julie has established herself as a solid runner.  A relative newcomer to road racing, Blair was a sprinter for the Troy track team in high school.  She ran only two years of Cross Country for Troy but was the Trojans top runner her junior and senior year.  After graduating from Ohio University, Julie has eased back into running.  She has recorded two PR’s this year (19:57 5K and 41:57 10K) and completed her first marathon at the Flying Pig in 2002.

Favorite Workout:  Hill training at Brukner Nature Center.  It is 10 miles of brutal hills.

 

Mike Nedeff Age:  50 Dayton, OH

Mike is a relative newcomer to running and racing.  He began running in 1998 after his wife, sister, and aunt (whom all ran) encouraged him to take up running.  Nedeff, a Wayne High School product, enjoys the simplicity and freedom of running.  He has benefited from the competition as well.  In a little over four years, Mike has established himself as a solid runner (17:25 5K and 28:41 8K).  Nedeff is a trail warrior, and you’ll find him at nearly every area trail race.

Ron Argabright, Jr.  Age:  47 Troy, OH

Ron began running at age 35 after his father influenced him to run a few races.  He was soon hooked.  The Piqua grad enjoys the competition and the social atmosphere at races.  Since joining the masters’ ranks Argabright has come on strong.  He’s recorded pr’s for 5K up to Half-Marathon at the masters’ level (17:17 5K and 1:18:42 Half-Marathon).  Ron races all over the state as well as several out-of-state events.

Favorite Distance:  8K or 5 Mile
Favorite Races:  Turkey Trot, Siberian Express 7.6 Miles (IL), St. Malachi 5 Miler
Favorite Workout:  Hill repeats at Brukner Nature Center. Sprinting
up hills working on strength and speed at the same time. A 3-mile warm up and then a set of 4 sprints up a double hill. A 1.5-mile recovery and then a second set of 4 sprints up the same double hill. Finish with a 1.5-mile cool down. 

 

Mark Reams Age:  44 Marysville, OH

Mark graduated from Goddard High School in Goddard, Kansas.  He claims he was the worst runner on the school’s cross country team.  Reams did little running as he made his way through Kansas State and Texas Tech Universities.  After landing a job at Honda in Marysville, Mark was encouraged by the plant’s sports and wellness center to consider running.  Four years later, Mark has qualified for the Boston Marathon (3:00:52).  The  cross country coach at Goddard probably wishes he had Mark Reams now.

Favorite Races:  Athens Half-Marathon, Flying Pig Marathon, Frozen Nose Four Miler
Favorite Workout:  A long run, with a pace that gets faster as he runs.  For example, run three 5-7 mile loops, with the first loop a little slower than marathon pace, the next loop at marathon pace, and the last loop faster than marathon pace.

 

Donn Craig   Age:  36 Troy, OH

Donn took up distance running after finding out he wasn’t much of a sprinter in junior high.  He eventually was an All-Ohio cross country runner for Youngstown Boardman in 1991.  From there, he ran for the Youngstown State track and cross country teams (14:58 5K and 30:23 10K).  Craig is one of the area’s best runners especially in the marathon (2002 ORRRC Runner of the Year). He ran a 2:28:38 at the Rocket City Marathon in 2002 and has a personal best of 2:28:05 in the marathon.  Donn is a part of the management team for the Miami County YMCA.

Favorite Workout:  He enjoys long runs between 2 and 2 ½ hours. 

 

Nick Zindorf  Age:  64 Englewood, OH

Nick began running his freshmen year in high school.  He recorded times of 9:48 (2 mile) and 1:58 (880 yard) in cross country and track.  After high school, Zindorf ran regularly, but didn't start competing in road races until the age of 54.  Since then Nick has established himself as one of the area's top masters runners.  His 18:56 5K (15:38 age graded) personal best was set at the age of 59 and his half marathon PR of 1:28:04 (1:11:13 age graded) at age 60.

Favorite Workout:  Tempo runs of 7-8 miles at Taylorsville Metropark, trying to run negative splits for each mile. Favorite speedwork is 4X1200s at 5K pace with 200M recovery, then 6X200s with 50M recovery. It's a killer, but helps immensely with strength and endurance.

 

Dan Crowe  Age:  42 Centerville, OH

Dan comes from a family of runners.  His three of his five sisters ran in college on scholarship.  However, Crowe didn't start competitive road racing until after college.  After joining GLB a couple years ago, Dan has increased his training and racing.  He recorded personal best of 19:02 5K and 1:29:50 1/2 marathon over last two years.  Dan is also a tri-athlete and has competed in a half Ironman with his goal of a full still looming ahead.

Jack Lintz  Age: 57 Englewood, OH

In the fall of 1967, one of the area's all-time great running careers began at Springfield North High School.  After an outstanding high school career, Lintz moved on to Otterbin College where he qualified for the both the NCAA Cross Country Championships (62nd as a senior) and the NCAA Track Championships.  While teaching and coaching Jack continued training and road racing in the Dayton area.  He recorded PR's of 15:05 (5K) and 31:15 (10K) and over the past decade has established himself as one of the top master's runners in the state.  His competitive longevity is nearly unmatched in the area.  Jack has been elected to the Dayton Athletic Association Running Hall of Fame and the Ohio Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame.  At Northmont, Lintz built the T-Bolts' cross country program into one of the state's best.  The T-Bolts have collected two state cross country titles (Boys 95&96), numerous conference and district titles, and his program has sent dozens of runners to the college level.  Jack is still coaching and racing.

Mark Trick  Age:  53 Brookville, OH

Mark began running at age 26 to stay in shape.  After a not-so-fast debut at the Vandalia 5 Miler, Trick began to get serious and was soon hooked.  The Vandalia grad worked his way up to the front pack.  Mark's best year occurred in 1986.  He recorded PR's of 15:24 (5K) and 32:22 (10K).  His 1988 top 10 finish at the Turkey Trot (26:01) remains one of his best performances.  Two years later he recorded his marathon PR at Rocket City (2:49).  Trick met his wife Kelli at a road race.  The two formed one of the area's top husband-wife duos.  Mark is still racing and remains one of the more competitive masters runners.  He is currently recovering from knee surgery.

Jerry Oaks Jr.  Age:  40 West Milton, OH

Jerry embarked on his running career in the late spring of 1995 with a debut at the Troy Strawberry Festival 10K.  Oaks was drawn to running for weight control and exercise purposes.  He quickly was hooked on the sport.  Jerry has PR's of 18:09 (5K) and 36:41 (10K).  However, Oaks has found his niche in the longer distances.  He recorded a personal best 1:22 half marathon at the 2004 Air Force Marathon/ Half Marathon and is on the brink of cracking 3 hrs in the marathon (3:03)

Curtis Caughey  Age:  57 Kettering, OH

Curtis's outstanding running career began in Los Angeles, CA.  At West Chester HS, Caughey was a track standout.  Caughey trained in high school under Joe Douglas in high school.  Douglas went on to organize the famed Santa Monica Track Club and served as Carl Lewis's manager for the 84 Olympics.  His  performances include 1:56 (880), 4:16 (Mile), and 9:17 (2 Mile), which earned him a track scholarship to UC Irvine.  At Irvine, he recorded a personal best of 14:22 (3 Mile-14:53 5K) and was one of the original members of the Santa Monica Track Club in late 60's.  Caughey now resides in Kettering where he's been one of the top masters in the state for the last six years.  His masters' PR's include 4:39 (1500) and 16:35 (5K).  Curtis often competes at the state and national level in the Masters and Senior Olympic Level.

Dave Larson

Age:  30 Covington, OH

Dave started running in junior high because his dad was a runner and Covington had a great tradition of distance running.  He ran cross country and track for Covington High School as well as for Bowling Green State University (3 years cross country two years track).  Since college he's raced at local road races and ran four marathons. Dave has personal bests of 15:38 (5K) and 2:47 (Marathon).  Dave also is the head Cross Country coach for Tippecanoe High School.  Larson's boys team were district runner's-up in 2005.

Andy White

Age:  40 Dayton, OH

Andy started his running career in record setting fashion.  His first race as a junior high cross country runner resulted in a school record 11:40.  In high school, White established himself as one of the top middle distances runners in the state.  At one point, he held school records at Milton Union High School in the 800, 1600, 3200, and cross country 5K mark.  He still holds the 1600 record at 4:19 which was good for 3rd in the state as a senior.  White ran for Kent State and Eastern Kentucky University.  He's recorded PR's of 1:51 (800), 4:06 (mile), 15:10 (5K), and 31:53 (10K).  Andy has served as head cross country and track coach for Vandalia Butler for the past 11 years.

Brent Coppock  Age: 40 Lewisburg, OH

Brent started running in 1994 with his wife for weight management and physical fitness.  Coppock has steadily improved his times over the past 5 years setting a personal best 17:48 (5K) at the 2005 Lou Cox Memorial.  Brent has been ranked in the top 10 in his age group consistently for the past four years.  He recently has begun a coaching career at Tri County North where he is an assistant in track and cross country for the Panthers.  Brent is also ran the Germantown 17K (Hills Gallore) in 1:18:23 (7:25 pace) with a his daughter in the baby jogger (that's nuts).

Mark Looney  Age: 48 Troy, OH
Mark started running as a junior in high school (Webster, NY) to loose weight for the wrestling team, 1978.  He wrestled for four years but enjoyed running much more.  He ran for Alfred State college where the team took 7th in the Nationals in Oregon 82", and ran for two more years at Buffalo State college.  After college, he took a brief foray into Triathlons based in CT and was ranked  in the top 10 positions for the New England Tri series five consecutive years. (short course and Olympic distances).  He has personal bests of 15:46 (5K), 32:59 (10K), and 2:35:39 (Marathon).  Mark is one of the state's best marathoners.  He's run a total of 16 marathons including back-to-back victories at the Buffalo marathon (98-99)and a 2:41 at Chicago in 2005.

Jon Bland  Age:  38 Brookville, OH

Jon began running cross country his freshmen year.  An all league performer in cross country and track, Bland didn't start racing competitively again until the late 90's.  He has continually improved his times in the major distances each year.  Jon often competes in the Clydesdale division.  He currently holds the Clydesdale record at Lou Cox (17:40) and cracked 3 hours in the marathon at Columbus in 2004.

Joe Calvert  Age:  40 Brookville, OH

After abusing his body for years with football and basketball, Joe started running in Feb. of 2004 to see what attracted people to it.  He immediately enjoyed the people in the running community and grew to love running as well as the push for improvement.  Calvert has made steady improvement.  His PR's of 19:31 (5K) and 1:39:07 (Half Marathon) were done while competing in the Clydesdale division.  His performances have established him as one of the area's best in the division.  In addition to running, Joe also coaches a youth soccer team for kids with disabilities.

John Comeskey  Age:  39 Kettering, OH

John ran throughout high school and college, but took a long break (1992-2004) from competitive running.  During that time John spent time racing cars which he still spends time doing.  In 2004 Comeskey was involved in a serious car accident.  He decided to take up running after the accident and contacted an old friend in Alliance Running's Jeff Coudron.  The two began training for tri-athlons together.  Between tri's John has made huge improvements on the roads.  He lowered his PR in the 5K over a minute during the 2005 season (18:09).  John enjoys running because of the competition, friendships, endorphin buzz, and you can eat whatever you want.

Punky Mills  Age:  67 Dayton, OH

Punky spent most of his youth playing amateur baseball.  He was inducted into the Dayton Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.  At age 39, Punky turned to running for competition and to get in shape.  He quickly established himself as one of top masters runners in the area during the mid 80's.  At age 43 he recorded a personal best of 34:41 in the 10K (Minster), 16:54 (5K), and 1:18:50 at the River Corridor.  Punky is still one of the area's best masters' runners.  His age graded performances clock in near 16:00 in the 5K.

Bob Moats  Age:  55 Dayton, OH

Bob began running at the urging of some friends in 1984.  Ironically, he's outlasted all of them in terms of running longevity.  Moats was one of the areas top runners through the 80's and early 90's.  He recorded personal bests of 16:15 (5K) and 33:24 (10K).  Bob is still competing at a high level and is perennially ranked in the top 10 in his age division.  Bob has also sang the national anthem at Dayton Dragon games and the Turkey Trot.

Carolyn Iddings  Age:  37 Piqua, OH

Iddings needed a way to stay in shape after finishing her basketball career at Wilmington College.  She took up running and biking.  Her continual improvement has sent pushed her ranking up higher over the past few years.  2005 has proved to be her best year to date.  She's recorded personal best at the 5K (20:24) and marathon (3:36).

Amee McCool  Age:  40 Vandalia, OH

Amee began running in the 7th grade after her PE teacher encouraged her to run cross country. McCool was a standout runner in cross country and track at Greenville High School.  Amee led the Green Wave to its only appearance at the the state cross country meet in 1988.  She qualified for the state meet several times with a 29th place finish as her best.  She still holds the 3rd fastest 5K time in school history (19:14), as well as several records on the track, and was inducted into the Greenville Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.  Amee continued her running career at Heidelberg College.  She was the Berg's top runner and all conference in cross country all four years recording a personal best of 17:56 (5K). Amee is currently teaching and coaching in the Vandalia Butler school district.

Wayne Doehlman  Age:  65 Fairfield, OH

Doehlman has been running for 44 years.  He won the district in the mile in 1962 for Hamilton Catholic.  In 1972, he was a member of the American Record 9 man 24 hour relay team.  Wayne ran 31 miles at a 5:31 per mile pace.  He was also a member of a 10 man 24 hour team that finished 6th in the World.  In his fifties, Doehlman recorded a 16:56 (5K) and 1:18:51 (Half Marathon).  Wayne still competes at a high level.  His age graded times rank as some of the area's best.

Byron Kimmel Age: 35 Tipp City, OH

Byron began running as a junior at Brookville High School.  However, it wasn't until he was diagnosed with a genetic blood disease at the age of 25, that he began running regularly.  Doctors encouraged him to maintain a running lifestyle to improve his condition.  In the summer of 2000, a friend asked him to run a race with him in Columbus, OH.  He began training and racing regularly in 2001 (16:44 5K & 34:55 10K).  He won the first Arnold Schwarzenegger Pump and Run in Columbus, OH in 2001.  That summer he was featured with two others in the August edition of Runners World in the Human Race section.  Kimmel began Alliance Running in the summer of 2003 and was inducted into the Dayton Athletic Association Running Hall of Fame in September of 2003.  Byron is also the head cross country coach at Tipecanoe High School.

Favorite Workout:  Two Minute Drill--Running 400 meters slightly faster than 5k pace and beginning another one after 2:00 minutes.  So, if you run 1:25 for the 400, you have 35 seconds to rest before the next one.  It is a tough workout.  I got this one from Jim Gross.
 

 

Kim Wise Age:  39 Enon, OH

Kim began her running career at Olmsted Falls (Cleveland area) her freshmen year of high school.  She quickly became a standout runner and continued her running career at the University of Michigan.  She recorded personal bests of 16:50 (5K) and 35:10 (10K) on the track in college.  Since her college days Wise has remained on of the area's top road racers.  She held the Ghost N Goblin female record for 7 years.  Kim is the head cross country coach at Greenon High School.

Ashley Harrod Age: 26 Piqua, OH

Ashley's running career began as natural act.  She literally decided to run one day and found that she liked the feeling when the run was complete.  A graduate of Fort Loramie High School, Harrod began competing in 2002 when she completed her first marathon (Air Force).  She has personal bests of 20;53 (5K) and 3:48 (Marathon).

Bob Campbell Age:  56 Troy, OH

Bob displayed a natural running talent at an early age when he recorded the top times in the school 600 yard run in 5th and 6th grade.  After quarterbacking Troy's junior high football team, Campbell switched to Cross Country in high school.  After running for Miami University in college, Bob has continued to be a force on the roads recording personal bests of 14:45 (5K) and 31:30 (10K).  He is ranked in the top 10 in the state in his age group and currently holds the Salem 5K 50-54 age group record at 17:09.  He is also the head boys coach for cross country and track at Troy High School.  Bob's son, Ian, will also compete for Alliance Running.  Ian runs on the varsity cross country team at Troy High School.

Scott Boyer Age:  50 Troy, OH

Boyer is a relative newcomer to the running ranks.  He was introduced to the sport by his brother-in-law who invited him to run the 2004 Strawberry Festival 10K.  Scott was quickly hooked and has run 50 races over the last two years.  He's recorded a personal best of 18:12 (5K).  Scott has also been active in training for triathlons.  He's completed 18 since 2005 and hopes to continue to improve upon his previous efforts.

Michelle Kitze Age:  43 Kettering, OH

Michelle has been one of the state's best runners for the last decade.  Kitze ran at Michigan State before moving into the area.  She competed on the national level in Triathlons and Duathlons.  In 1995, she was the first female American finisher in the U.S. Duathlon Championships.  Michelle has won the ORRRC Half Marathon nine times, Lou Cox, the Turkey Trot and countless other races.  She was named ORRRC Female Runner of the Year in 2001.  Her personal bests include 17:11 (5K), 35:19 (10K), and a 2:52 marathon.

Troy Schultz Age:  13 Troy, OH

Troy caught the running bug at age 6 while accompanying his father during his summer high school PE classes.  Schultz has competed in two USATF National Cross Country Championships finishing 10th in Spokane, WA earning All-America honors.  In the spring of 2007, Troy ran a 19:33 at Lou Cox and a 19:37 at the Salem 5K setting impressive age group marks.  In addition to running, Troy also will be playing football, baseball, and basketball.

Levi Fox Age:  23 Troy, OH
Levi Fox's decorated running career began at the annual Strawberry Festival.  At the urging of his mother, Levi (an upcoming freshmen at Troy High School at the time) entered the race and ran around 49 minutes winning his age group.  He decided to run cross country that fall and was soon hooked.  Fox quickly established himself as one the top distance runners in the area during this decade.  He finished 4th in the state in cross country as a junior and runner-up as a senior.  In track, he finished 2nd in the state in the 3200 as a junior and won the event as a senior.  He currently owns the course record at the Alliance Running Inv. Jake Enke Age:  21 Troy, OH

Jake was a standout runner for Troy High School.  He was four-time all-GWOC in cross country and track (3200).  Enke was all-Ohio in Cross Country in 2006 finishing 10th at the state meet recording a 15:45.  In Track, Enke specialized in the 3200.  He finished 8th in the state as a junior and 10th.  His 9:22 is second fastest time in school history behind current Alliance Running teammate Levi Fox.  Enke is currently running cross country and track for Columbia University in New York.  He's majoring in Biology (Pre Med).

Barry Martens Age:  44 West Milton, OH

Barry picked up the running bug in his mid-thirties.  He's steadily improved his times over the past few years.  In 2007, he enjoyed a strong year at the masters level with a personal best 18:08 at Lou Cox.  Martens also qualified and ran the Boston Marathon in 2008.

Tim is one of the area's top tri-athletes.  One of the strongest bikers in Southwest Ohio in his age group, Tim is also very competitive running the roads.

Ron has been competing in area road races for 30 years.  His competitive longevity is remarkable.  Ron was ranked in the top 10 in the 65-69 state age group rankings in 2007.
