with a 33:39 10K and 1:14:30 1/2 marathon.

| Chris DesRoches |
Age: 50 |
Dayton, OH |
|
Chris’s trek to competitive racing is one of
the most interesting you’ll come across.
Chris attended high school in New Hampshire and joined the army
within a year of graduating. He
began running in the army (because you had to!).
After finishing his military commitment, DesRoches ran on his own
but never raced. It wasn’t
until the age of 39 when his son, Brent, made the varsity Cross Country
team at Northmont High School did Chris begin racing.
As he began increasing his mileage his times dropped rapidly.
He quickly developed into one of the area’s best runners (15:31
5K and 32:50 10K) in his forties

| Mark Reams |
Age: 44 |
Marysville, OH |
|
Mark graduated from Goddard High School in
Goddard, Kansas. He claims he
was the worst runner on the school’s cross country team.
Reams did little running as he made his way through Kansas State
and Texas Tech Universities. After
landing a job at Honda in Marysville, Mark was encouraged by the plant’s
sports and wellness center to consider running.
Four years later, Mark has qualified for the Boston Marathon
(3:00:52). The
cross country coach at Goddard probably wishes he had Mark Reams
now.
