"Alter's Krebs Knows How to Finish!"
| You ever here the
age-old says, “It’s not how you start the race; it’s how you finish
it.” Krebs’ last mile heroics shouldn’t have been such a surprise. At mid-season, he finished 3rd at the prestigious All-Ohio Catholic Meet with a 20 second improvement on his personal best. Krebs then earned victories at the District and Regional meets. His patient strategy at the state meet gave him confidence and established himself as one of the state’s top runners. That spring he turned in another impressive performance at the state meet finishing second in the 3200. His junior resumé reads much the same. It includes another district and regional title, a third place finish at the state meet, and a fifth place finish in the 3200 during track season. However, Krebs didn’t make the trip to the state cross country meet alone in 2004. The Knights qualified as a team and finished 6th at the state meet. Krebs and his teammates spent the summer training together. “I ran about 30 miles with my team during the week and another 20 on my own,” said the senior. The Knights recently improved upon their 6th place finish in 2004 with a 4th place finish at this year’s state meet. It was Krebs leading the way with a personal best 15:43 and second place finish overall to Navarre Fairless's junior Aaron Melhorn. Paul has not made any decisions regarding college. He plans on continuing his running career and is looking to enter the collegiate ranks as Pre-Med. Krebs carries a 4.0 g.p.a. and is ranked 6th in his class. Good luck Paul. |
