2006 Results

FROSTBITE 5 MILER

    Dave Johnston defended his title as top male overall at the 39th annual Frostbite 5 Miler.  Jim Beyer and Jason Newport took the next two spots.  Michelle Kitze won the event for the females again as well.  She was followed by Mindy Leisure and Christina Haverfield.  The Greene Frogs took the team title, too.  Alliance Running debuted with runner-up honors.  Area A&C was next.

St. Patrick's Day 5K

    Dave Johnston took another team race overall title.  He was followed by Eric Lundgren and Jake Enke.  Christina Haverfield took top female honors.  She was followed by Mary Jo Beans and Zara Rhone.  The Greene Frogs made it two in a row.  Alliance Running was second and the Miami County YMCA third.

Helke 5K

     Dave Johnston made it three for three to start 2006.  The 32 year-old cruised to another victory.  He was followed by Dave Larson and Brad Newsad.  Christina Haverfield won her second consecutive team race.  She was followed by Mindy Leisure and Zara Rhone.
     Alliance Running broke the Greene Frogs streak of team victories edging them by seven points.  Wright Pat A&C was third.

DIAA Cross Country 5K

    Dave Johnston continued his title string in the ORRRC team series with a narrow victory over Jim Beyer.  Melinda Leisure out-distanced Michelle Kitze for top female honors.
     The Greene Frogs returned to their winning ways.  Alliance Running was next followed by A&C and Area B.

Salem 5K

    Crummy weather didn't stop Eric Putnam from breaking the course record at the 6th annual Salem 5K.  The 33 year-old Shanwee St. Cross Country coach clocked in at 14:56.  Otterbein's Michael Sawicki was a close second with a 14:59 and Michael Cauley was third at 15:02.
     Christina Haverfield ran one of her fastest times of the year with an 18:21.  She was followed by Miami University's Carol Eckerly.  Michelle Kitze finished third with her 19:00 and smashed the female masters record.  The Greene Frogs took first and were followed by Alliance Running, Miami County YMCA, Area A&C, and Area B.

Englewood Reserve 5K

     Dave Johnston returned to his winning ways by capturing top honors at the annual Englewood Reserve 5K.  Johnston and nearly 260 runners battled steamy race conditions and a taxing uphill finish.  Johnston was followed by Dave Larson and Kyle Fetters.
     Enon's Kim Wise ran a strong race taking top female honors.  Sarah Mark was second followed by Hannah Charbal.
     The Greene Frogs took the team title over Alliance Running, Area B, Area A&C, and Miami County YMCA.

Tadmor 10K

    Dave Johnston won his sixth team race of the year out-legging Alliance Running's Dave Larson.  Troy standout Jake Enke was third.  Zara Rhone won the battle of the females.  She was followed by Molly Stickel and Alliance Running's Carolyn Iddings.
     The Greene Frogs won the team title handily as well.  The were followed by the Miami County YMCA and Alliance Running.

Deweese 5K

     Dave Johnston recorded a sub 16 effort en route to another team title.  Johnston stretched his lead over the last 600 meters.  Jim Beyer was second followed by Alliance Running's Dave Larson.  Kim Wise was the first female to cross the line.  She was followed by Christina Johnston and Mindy Leisure. 
     The Greene Frogs edged Alliance Running by a point for the team title.

Germantown 17K

     The Johnston family swept the top male and female spots at the 28th annual Country Classic 17K run in Germantown.  Dave Johnston took the male honors and Christina was the top female.  Fellow teammate Kenn Daily was second for the Greene Frogs followed by Alliance Running's Jeff Coudron.
     Johnston won comfortably outdistancing Sherry Hyden and Cheryl Fenton.  The Greene Frogs took the overall title with Wright Pat A&C finishing second with a strong showing.

Spring Valley 15K

     The Johnston family made it two in a row Dave and Christina taking the top two spots at the Spring Valley 15K.  John Agnew and Dave Larson followed up for the men.  Mindy Leisure and Chari Walsh were next to cross the line for the women.
     The Greene Frogs won their second consecutive team title.  Alliance Running finished second at the race and overall.
